illbruck acoustic, inc. changes name to
pinta acoustic, inc.
illbruck acoustic, inc., has changed its name to pinta acoustic, inc. The company’s products, management, vision and direction remain unchanged. illbruck acoustic—now pinta acoustic—is a subsidiary of the former illbruck elements GmbH, which has been renamed pinta elements GmbH. The changes are effective since May 31, 2007.
“The name change represents the culmination of a reorganization that began in 2004, when the former illbruck GmbH divested its subsidiaries,” says Joerg Hutmacher, business unit manager, pinta acoustic, inc. “The change from illbruck acoustic to pinta acoustic allows us to further differentiate ourselves from the other parts of the former illbruck GmbH and focus on worldwide niche markets.”
The name “pinta” was selected because of the company founder’s association with high-performance sailing. In 1969, Willi illbruck named his first sailing yacht “pinta.” The inspiration for the name was the historical Pinta, the fastest of the ships used by Christopher Columbus on his voyage to America. In 2002, Michael illbruck’s racing team won the Volvo Challenge.
pinta elements GmbH is an international holding company headquartered in Munich, Germany, with subsidiaries in Europe and the United States. These subsidiaries supply high-quality acoustical, isolation and filter products for various business sectors. The “pinta” name component has been adopted by the worldwide subsidiaries of the pinta elements holding company.
pinta acoustic, inc. provides acoustical and noise control solutions for the architectural, commercial, industrial and broadcast/audio markets. Many of our products feature willtec® acoustical material, a porous melamine that has exceptional sound-absorbing capabilities and is Class 1 fire-rated.

BIOLINE Wood Ceiling Tiles help new library
bring the outdoors inside
BIOLINE Wood Ceiling Tiles from pinta acoustic, inc. have helped bring the outdoors inside at the new Ramsey County Library in Maplewood, Minn. The library is adjacent to a wetland and faces a city-owned sculpture garden. The design team wanted to connect the natural environment and atmosphere to the indoors.
“Floor-to-ceiling windows face the wetland and mature trees, and the lobby features a lot of glass; so the wood ceiling helps to create the effect of nature transitioning from outdoors to indoors,” says Jay Biedny, project manager, Ramsey County Property Management. “We were looking for a ceiling product that was warm and rich and had an organic sense. We definitely did not want a stark white ceiling. We first saw a polished wood veneer ceiling product that was far too expensive. Then the architects, Hammel, Green and Abrahamson, presented us with the BIOLINE product, and we fell in love with it.”

pinta acoustic’s PROSPEC Decibel Drop helps keep noise where it belongs
pinta acoustic, inc. has introduced PROSPEC Decibel Drop, a high-performance viscoelastic damping compound that decreases the sound traveling to adjacent rooms. PROSPEC Decibel Drop is appropriate for use in commercial spaces, broadcast/audio facilities, home theaters and multifamily dwellings.
“PROSPEC Decibel Drop is an economical solution for reducing sound transmission into adjacent interior areas for both new construction and retrofit applications,” says Joerg Hutmacher, business unit manager, pinta acoustic.
PROSPEC Decibel Drop is Class 1 fire-rated. The product provides superior acoustic control in low frequencies and has a sound transmission class (STC) rating of 50 to 62, depending on the construction configuration.
PROSPEC Decibel Drop is easy to install between layers of drywall or plywood in walls and ceilings or between layers of subflooring. The product comes in a cartridge and is applied with a standard caulk gun. Two to three cartridges cover 32 square feet, applied randomly over the drywall surface area.
